5 Things You'll Love About Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class Ships

Updated: Aug 7

Are you looking for a cruise vacation that will excite and amaze you? If so, then you need to check out one of Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class ships: Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas, or Wonder of the Seas. These ships are currently the largest cruise ships in the world, and they offer a variety of amenities and activities that are sure to please everyone in your group. Here are 5 things I love about Royal Caribbean's Oasis Class ships!

1. One-of-a-kind onboard activities/amenities

If you are looking for a cruise that offers plenty to do, then you will definitely want to consider an Oasis Class ship. From 40-foot high rock climbing walls to an ice skating rink, these ships offer a variety of exciting activities and amenities. Have you ever wanted to try zip lining? Well, these ships offer a short zip line which is located nine stories above the Boardwalk neighborhood. Want to catch a wave (or two)? Perfect your skills onboard the FlowRider surfing simulators. Sports lover? Find the full-sized sports court for open play basketball, pickleball or soccer.

Try your hand at mini-golf on Wonder of the Seas which has an undersea-themed mini golf course. If being pampered is more your speed, try the world class Vitality spa and do one of their complimentary wellness seminars. If you are feeling lucky, visit the casino, enter a slot tournament or take a complimentary “Learn to Play” Blackjack session. Other activities onboard include such things as: trivia, crossword challenges, table tennis tournaments, karaoke, silent disco, bingo and scavenger hunts.

2. Multiple options to lounge on the pool deck

There are plenty of pools and lounging areas on Oasis Class ships. The Solarium offers a tranquil pool location for adults only. This retreat has a pool area, its own bar, and cantilevered whirlpools. If you prefer more action, head to the sports pool area. Here, you will find water-based games such as pool volleyball or fun competitions like the World’s Sexiest Man or belly-flop contest.

For a more “resort’ feel, check out the Beach pool, which has loungers around the pool area and a vibe that resembles laying on the sand near an ocean. You can also find live music throughout the day by the pools, usually with a calypso Caribbean sound. For thrill-seekers, try out a water slide like the Perfect Storm with various twists and turns. Or, go down the Ultimate Abyss – the tallest slide at sea, which is a 10-story dry slide.

3. World-class entertainment

In my opinion, there is no other cruise line that can touch the variety of entertainment onboard a Royal Caribbean Oasis class ship. The musical performances onboard are top-notch, and there is something for everyone. Broadway hits like CATS, Grease, Mamma Mia & Hairspray are aboard Oasis, Harmony, Allure and Symphony of the Seas. You can also dance to latin music in Boleros, sing along to guitar melodies in the Pub, listen to some jazz at Jazz on 4 or chill to a pianist in the Schooner Bar.

Aside from musical entertainment, each ship has an AquaTheater where a specialized acrobatic/diving/synchronized swimming show is performed. Do NOT miss this show as it stars many former Olympic athletes and will blow your mind with what these performers can do while the ship is moving. I also enjoy the Headliner shows held at The Royal Theater, which often have former contestants from America’s Got Talent, as well as the ice-skating-themed shows in Studio B.

4. The abundance of dining options

Whether you are looking for fine dining or casual fare, you will find whatever you are craving. Chops Grille is one of the specialty restaurant options (extra $) and it definitely doesn’t disappoint. The steakhouse serves up some of the best meat you will ever have, and the sides are just as good. Make sure to leave room for dessert because the red velvet cake is out of this world. Also, check out Mason Jar, a new southern flare type of restaurant aboard Wonder of the Seas. It is known to have the best barbeque on the high seas. Other restaurants you can find onboard select ships are Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, Hooked Seafood, and if you are staying in a suite, you have access to Coastal Kitchen. And if you want to catch your favorite sports team play, grab a pitcher and some wings at Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade.

There are also various complimentary dining options so try the different varieties of hot dogs from the Boardwalk Dog House, grab a slice of pizza from Sorrento’s, dive into a poolside taco from El Loco Fresh, or opt for a salad at Park Cafe. Also, don’t forget to wash it all down by heading to the Bionic Bar, the first robotic bar at sea.

5. The unique neighborhood concept

Oasis class ships have various neighborhoods located on different decks. Take a stroll through Central Park with 12,000 live plants and trees. You can also find the Park Cafe, 150 Central Park and numerous shops in this neighborhood. Don’t forget to jump on The Rising Tide Bar which is open during select hours. This unique bar goes up/down between Central Park on Deck 8 and The Royal Promenade on Deck 5. Make sure to also visit the Boardwalk neighborhood located on Deck 6. Let loose your inner child and take a ride on the full-size or chill in the Aqua Theater and watch one of the movies on its giant screen.

One of the newest neighborhoods, called the Suite Neighborhood, is on Decks 17 and 18 aboard Wonder of the Seas. This is a private area of the ship that is reserved for suite guests (as well as Pinnacle guests). In other words, it is only accessible by key card to those specific cruisers. Here you can find a secluded wading pool, a hot tub, a dedicated bar and a sun deck which features sun loungers and daybeds. In addition to the sun deck, you get access to the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen.

It’s easy to see why so many cruisers are “Loyal to Royal.” Whether you are looking for a relaxing vacation or an action-packed adventure, you will be able to find it on one of these ships.
