Over the past two years, one of the most common questions I get from clients is, how is Cancun? Well, in a nutshell, AMAZING! After all, who doesn’t enjoy sipping on a cocktail while basking in the sunshine by a pool or beach? Located in the heart of the Cancun, Mexico Hotel Zone, the all-inclusive Hard Rock Cancun is a good fit for those looking for a lively atmosphere. It does not disappoint when it comes to room categories, entertainment, choice of food/drink, and a friendly staff.
Dance until you can't dance anymore.
The Rooms
With 601 rooms spanning a 12-story building, Hard Rock Cancun offers a variety of room categories to suit anyone’s needs. Watch the sunset from your lagoon view room, order room service and eat out on your ocean view balcony or step it up a notch and lavish in a Rock Royalty room with a personal assistant. Have a big family? No problem. Hard Rock Cancun also offers certain two bedroom categories which hold a maximum occupancy of six guests.
I love relaxing in the spacious hydro spa tub (one in each room) to wind down from a long day (Hint: If you are Rock Royalty, you can request the personal assistant to make a bubble bath at a designated time that suits your schedule). The property carries Rock Spa bath products, and I thought the shampoo/conditioner smelled divine. Don’t forget to put on your complimentary “Buenas Noches” slippers to walk around the room while channeling your inner rock star. Robes are available upon request. One downside I found, at least in the rooms I stayed, were that the walls were thin. So, if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. But hey, we are on vacation, who needs sleep, right?
The Entertainment
This property brings the energy! For all of you upbeat people looking for daily activities and night time shows, Hard Rock Cancun offers both. The pool area really starts amping up around noon. And if you are Rock Royalty, you can indulge in your own separate pool deck area. During the day, you can find a DJ spinning everything from the latest pop hits to rock classics. The activities team has numerous choices throughout the day such as: Rock Om yoga, water volleyball, trivia and corn hole tournaments. My husband, Paul, entered a day-time competition which included dancing and shooting tequila where he came in 2nd place. That was his moment of fame.
At night, escape to the auditorium for a Mexican show, grab a seat in the amphitheater for a Queen tribute or Studio 54 performance or pull up a chair and enjoy some karaoke. The night shows in the amphitheater are on a rotating schedule, so if you are lucky, you might get to see the 24-karat show which incorporates dance and lip sync impersonation of such artists as Guns-N-Roses, Lady Gaga, Beyonce and Bruno Mars. I have seen this show twice and would watch it again in a heartbeat.
The Food and Drinks
Now let’s talk about the good stuff…food and bevs. As this is an all-inclusive property, your food and drinks are included. Hard Rock Cancun features restaurants such as Ipanema (Steakhouse), Frida (Mexican cuisine), Zen/Teppanyaki (Asian), Ciao (Italian) and Pizzeto (pizza by the pool). I was able to to walk-up and get in for dinner at Frida, Zen and Ciao. However, if you want to do Teppanyaki or eat at Ipanema, you will need to make reservations.
I prefer to start my days off in Ciao with an a la carte breakfast. With a variety of smoothie selections, I opt for a different one each morning and tend to indulge in a big heaping serving of chilaquiles with chicken. Although lunch is offered in a variety of restaurants, I normally order a slice of pizza or hamburger/fries by the pool and have it delivered to my chair. Not the healthiest of options; however, it is convenient. Dinner at Frida is fabulous also. I suggest starting with the zucchini with roasted panela cheese as an appetizer, followed by traditional mexican soup and chicken mole as an entree. You can’t go wrong with any of your dessert choices here. If you feel like dining in, room service is available 24/7; however, depending on what you order it may take up to an hour to receive.
The drinks are just as delicious as the food and some are some are named after bands. My favorite was the ABBA…great choice if you like drinks on the sweeter side or prefer to channel your inner “Dancing Queen.” As this resort offers two swim-up bars, these tend to be popular areas for guests during the day. Bar service was plentiful all around, and I never found a delay in waiting for one of the bar staff to offer you a drink whether hanging out around the pool or lounging in the Smash Bar.
At this all-inclusive resort, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included in your stay. If you wish to enjoy certain gourmet experiences such as tequila or wine tastings or romantic dinners, they are available on certain days/times for an additional cost. My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a romantic cabana dinner on the beach. With a surf and turf menu, we were greeted with a pathway of candles, a gigantic “LOVE” sign and sand art. If you are celebrating a special occasion, it is definitely worth the extra cost. I don’t want to spoil all the surprises; however, we captured the moment and posted on our YouTube channel:
The Staff
From the time of check-in to the time of departure, the staff at Hard Rock Cancun was A+. Some of them I stay in touch with via social media and even visit when in the area. Going Rock Royalty does not disappoint either as the personal butlers always add that extra special touch. Whether its “marking” your lounger by the Rock Royalty pool area in the spot of your choice, reserving a cabana on the beach or leaving a bottle of champagne in your room with chocolate covered strawberries, the butlers work around the clock to ensure you are satisfied. Not Rock Royalty? No worries as the staff is all-around friendly, knowledgeable and there to make your stay fantastic.. Remember, this is an all-inclusive property, however, it is a nice gesture to tip those who go above and beyond to make your vacation extra special.
The energy runs day and night!
Overall, I would recommend this property to the young and old alike, as long as you want a good time. Interested in learning more about my travel adventures, follow me on YouTube:
